Lock In Business Planning & Power Hours at Coldwell Banker Bain Capitol Hill

My friend and collaborator Marguerite Martin and I had the pleasure of visiting Coldwell Banker Bain Capitol Hill for an in-person Lock In business planning training, followed by our facilitated Power Hours work session.

And what a great place to spend the day! I always love a reason to spend some time in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. I used to live just up the street from the Coldwell Banker Bain Capitol Hill office, so coming back is always a little extra fun for me. 😊

10 Mistakes Agents Make with Business Planning (& What To Do Instead)

We started the morning with our 1-hour Lock In training, 10 Mistakes Agents Make with Business Planning (& What To Do Instead).

Here's the thing about business planning. Most real estate agents have made a plan before. Maybe even a REALLY good one. But somewhere between setting those big goals in January and getting caught up in the day-to-day demands of running a business, that beautiful plan gets pushed to the side. Which is totally understandable (it happens to me too).

Marguerite and I wanted to help agents understand why that happens and, more importantly, what they can do differently. We talked about setting meaningful goals, creating simple systems that are actually easy to track, and finding ways to stay consistent through accountability and community support.

And one of our favorite things to emphasize: Your business plan should support the LIFE you want to live, not just the income you want to earn. (This is one of the big themes of Lock In.)

Putting Those Plans Into Action with Lock In Power Hours!

After our training, it was time for Lock In Power Hours! ⚑

This is where we go from talking about business planning to actually DOING the work. (I am a big big BIG proponent of β€œwork dates” which you can learn more about here and here.)

We spent the next two hours in a facilitated, focused work session designed to help agents make meaningful progress on their plans for 2026. It’s one thing to leave a class feeling inspired, but it’s another to walk away having actually made progress on the things that matter to your business.

I love getting to create that space for agents to focus, get things done, and move into the new year with a little more clarity and direction.

Lock In with us :-)

If you've ever created a business plan with the BEST intentions, only to find yourself falling back into the same routines a few months later, you're definitely not alone. This is one of the reasons that Marguerite and I created Lock In, a business planning retreat and coaching program designed to help real estate agents build businesses that actually support the lives they want to live.

Our program combines a 3-day retreat followed by 12 weeks of group coaching, training, and accountability. It's an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, get clear on what you really want, create a plan that feels right for YOU, and have the support to actually follow through.

Business planning shouldn't just be about setting bigger goals or doing MORE. It's about creating a business you love, with the time and freedom to enjoy the life you're working so hard to build.

Want to learn more? We'd love to have you join us! Explore everything Lock In has to offer, from our immersive retreat to our ongoing coaching and community support, and see how we can help you create a business plan that actually works for YOU! πŸ”βœ¨
